SPECIAL OLYMPICS WEST HAWAII

The mission of Special Olympics West Hawaii is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children, teens and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The Shriners Hospitals for Children — Honolulu is a state-of-the-art facility that provides Hawaii’s children with the best orthopaedic care, neurodevelopmental care, fracture clinic, surgery, physical therapy, occupational therapy, radiology, orthotics and prosthetics workshop and other ancillary services. The hospital is colorful, kid-friendly and designed to place patients and families at ease with the aloha spirit. The hospital accepts insurance and provides care regardless of the families’ ability to pay.

The Salvation Army’s Kona Corps Community Center serves the people residing on the west end of the Big Island of Hawaii. In addition to its function as a church, its services include the provision of emergency assistance to families needing help, as well as the maintenance of a preschool.
